Minerva’s Senior Citizens’ Club
In 1969 the Minerva Senior Citizens’ Club was organized for the purpose of providing social recreation, companionship and educational activities suitable for persons of senior years. Fifty-two years later, the renamed Sleeping Giant Seniors continues to enjoy social gatherings and friendships, as well as day trips of recreational or educational interest.
The seniors are grateful to the Town of Minerva for an annual stipend that helps to fund outings and get togethers. Other funds are raised on Minerva Day and at the annual Holiday Bazaar’s Tricky Tray, for which the seniors are famous. Also enjoyed annually are the breakfast in July and the outdoor picnic in August.
All seniors are welcome to be a part of this vibrant group. We meet each month except December on the 4th Friday, at 1 p.m., at the Community Center, where we take care of business, enjoy a program and relish a tasty treat.
