Water Billing Schedule:
Water bills are sent out annually between February 14th and March 1st. The bill covers water usage during the previous year, from January 1st through December 31st. Full or half payment is due by April 1st without penalty. However, if no payment is received by this date, a penalty of 10% will be added to the outstanding amount.
A billing reminder is sent out in August for any open balances. Final payment with penalty or 2nd half payment must be made by October 1st. If the unpaid amount is not paid in full by October 1st, it will become a lien against the property and added to the tax roll.
It is important to note that there is no additional penalty applied by the Town after October 1st. If the bill remains unpaid, the balance is turned over to Essex County and added to your yearly property tax bill. Essex County may add a fee for their service.
