Registrar of Vital Statistics

 

  • The Town Clerk is appointed as the Registrar of Vital Statistics for the New York State Department of Health.
  • Registrars cannot disclose any information without the appropriate application, including whether a record exists in our records.
  • You must submit the appropriate application and fee to initiate a record search. If you are requesting a record for someone other than yourself, you must provide appropriate supporting documentation, identification, and/or proof of relationship to the individual/s on the requested record.
  • Submit the appropriate application and fee by check or Money Order payable to: Minerva Town Clerk.
  • Important note: These fees are not returned if the requested record is not in our files.

Genealogical Records

In New York, Genealogical Records are generally considered to be birth records older than 75 years, death records older than 50 years, and marriage records older than 50 years, provided the individuals in the record are deceased.

Records from before the 1900s are limited. While the Town of Minerva does have some records starting from the dates listed below, this does not mean that the Town has a complete collection for that period; it only includes what was recorded with the Town.

 

– Birth records begin in 1867.

– Death records begin in 1881.

– Marriage records begin in 1908.
