Real Property Change of Address Form
(If your mailing address is incorrect on your tax statement, please complete the change of address form and mail it to Essex County Real Property; the address is on the form.)
TOWN & COUNTY TAX COLLECTION:
Annual Town & County Tax Statements are mailed by January 1st.
Payments are due on January 31st, without penalty.
Penalties are applied in February, March, and April.
Last Day to pay at the Town Office is April 30th. (After April 24th, I will not be able to provide a printed receipt.)
Payments should be made out to: Minerva Property Tax Collection.
Please pay via check or money order. Cash is discouraged; exact change only, as change may not be available.
Only EXACT payment amounts are accepted. Unfortunately, a payment can not be processed if it is the wrong amount. Incorrect payments will not be processed and will be returned.
I can accept one check for multiple properties if the payment is accurate. However, if it is incorrect, the entire payment will be returned, and no properties will be credited.
Multiple checks on a single property are NOT accepted; there is no way to record multiple payments for one bill in the processing program.
Town books over to Essex County on May 1st. Payments mailed or received in person on or after May 1st will be returned.
For any payment after May 1st, contact the Essex County Treasurer at the end of May to make payment arrangements at (518) 873-3310.
TAXES TO EXPECT EACH YEAR:
Annual Property Tax Statements:
– Sent by January 1st.
– Penalties are applied at the start of each month: February, March, and April.
– Second notices are mailed in March.
– The final payment date, at the Minerva Town Hall, is April 30th.
Annual Water Bills (water rents):
Property owners in the water district will receive a water usage bill annually for all active water.
– Bills are sent no later than March 1st.
– Payment is due without penalty by April 1st.
– Unpaid bills with penalties are resent by the end of April.
– The final date to pay is October 1st.
Minerva School Tax Statements: (contact information below)
(PLEASE NOTE: School Taxes are paid through Minerva Central School and their appointed collector; these taxes are NOT collected through the Town.)

– Penalties apply after September 30th.
– The final date to pay is October 31st.
